Annual Firemen's Fair
Queen Anne-Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Company will be holding it's FIREMAN'S FAIR from July 23-25, 2009. The fun will run nightly from 7:00 pm-til at the firehouse grounds in downtown Queen Anne. The Little Miss Fire Prevention contest will be held on Thursday evening, July 23th at 7:30 pm at the fire hall. The Miss Fire Prevention contest will be held the following evening, Friday, July 24th at 8:00 pm also at the fire hall.  QAHVFC's new Tanker 86 will be ceremoniously placed into service at the Fire House at 1600 hrs on Saturday, July 25th.  The events will culminate with a parade down Main Street, Hillsboro and Main Street, Queen Anne ending at the fire hall on Saturday evening, July 25th at 6:00 pm. Trophies will be awarded later that evening. Come out and enjoy great food, fire truck and hay rides through the towns, and many games of chance. There will be several ground prizes given away each night of the fair. The Raffle Drawing will take place on Saturday evening, July 25th at the close of the fair. Pickup into Woods on Damsontown Road

 At approximately 8:30 PM Queen Anne’s County dispatched Talbot County Station 80 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro), Station 50 (Cordova) and Queen Anne’s County Station 4 (Goodwill) for a MVC reported serious with entrapment on Damsontown Rd. in the area of Greenville Rd.

 
Chief 80 (C. McNeal) arrived on location to find one pickup into the trees and confirmed entrapment. Officer 802 (C. McNeal) established command and requested aviation. Upon the arrival of engine 51, Officer 501 (M. Secrist) was assigned to LZ command. After 9 minutes the crews from Rescue 84 and Engine 85 had the extrication complete and the patient was transported to Paramedic 100 and packaged for Trooper 6.
 
One patient was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in critical condition. The situation was placed under control and all units cleared the scene at approximately 10:10 PM. The accident is under investigation by the Maryland State Police.

Tanker 86 assists Centreville with a dwelling fire

On June 23 sta 80 was alerted for the Tanker to assist Sta. 4 with a dwelling fire on Coon box road in the 4-9 box.

Rt 404 & River Rd Multi-Vehicle Collision with Fire

At approximately 10:45 AM Caroline dispatched Station 300 (Denton) for a MVC with multiple vehicles at the intersection of Shore Highway (Rt. 404) and River Road. Prior to the arrival of Fire and EMS, additional reports advised there was fire and entrapment. At this time Station 400
(Ridgely) and Station 800 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro) were dispatched as well.  Officer 316 (Dallas Lister) arrived on location, established “Shore Highway” command and confirmed three vehicles involved with one of them being a tractor trailer. Command also advised incoming units the tractor trailer and one vehicle were on fire. While crews from all three companies battled the blaze, paramedics started patient care and requested aviation. Rescue 84 was designated to the LZ.

One patient was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center by Trooper 6 and several patients were transported to Memorial Hospital at Easton.  West bound Route 404 remained closed for more then 6 hours while the accident scene was cleaned up.  The trailer was loaded with frozen food and had to be off loaded into dumpsters before the trailer could be up righted. MDE assisted with the clean up of approximately 150 gallons of diesel fuel.  The Maryland State Police are conducting the investigation.

Heavy Entrapment on Rt 404 & Ridgely Road

At approximately 12:20 PM Caroline dispatched Station 800 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro) for a MVC with entrapment at the intersection of Shore Highway (Route 404) and Ridgely Road (Route 480).  Rescue 84 arrived on location with Officer 804 (D. Lister) establishing “Shore Highway” command and confirming entrapment. Due to the shortage of daytime volunteers Officer 804 transferred command to Caroline County Officer 906 (Supervisor for Caroline Dispatch S. Hurlock) so he could assist with extrication. The patient had heavy entrapment to his lower extremities. Crews from Queen Anne-Hillsboro, Ridgely and Cordova worked about 45 minutes before extrication was complete.


     The Shock Trauma GO-TEAM was dispatched to the scene but later cancelled. One patient was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center by Trooper 6 and one was transported to the Memorial Hospital at Easton. The accident is being investigated by the Maryland State Police Crash Team.
